IoT project based on the concept of Smart Cities. It regards a smart switch capable of enabling/disabling the movement of an escalator only when needed. It involves a single sonar sensor and an Ethernet board which is able to send insights to a server in order to provide statistics with respect to the usage of the escalator itself. An advanced version of the project enables a lower power consumption of the smart switch due to a mechanism of automatic recharging provided by the movement of the escalator itself.
